Parental Kidnapping Prevention Act

A federal law, abbreviated as PKPA, enacted to deter interstate parental kidnapping and to promote uniformity in child custody determinations across state lines. It establishes national standards for determining which state's custody order should be recognized and enforced by other states. The Act gives priority to the home state of the child for jurisdiction over custody matters.
