Legal custody

The right and responsibility to make decisions about a child's upbringing, including matters of education, healthcare, and religious training. This form of custody can be sole, where one parent makes all decisions, or joint, where both parents share decision-making authority. It is distinct from physical custody, which concerns where the child lives.
