Joint custody

A court-ordered arrangement in family law where both parents share legal and/or physical responsibility for their child after separation or divorce. Joint legal custody means both parents make decisions about the child's upbringing, while joint physical custody involves the child spending substantial time with both parents. This arrangement is often favored by courts when it is in the child's best interest.
