Joint criminal enterprise

A legal doctrine in international criminal law where multiple individuals are held responsible for crimes committed in furtherance of a common plan or purpose. Participants do not need to have committed the physical act themselves, but their involvement in the shared criminal design is sufficient for liability. This doctrine has been applied by international tribunals, such as the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
