Joint and several liability

A legal doctrine holding that each party responsible for an injury or debt is liable for the entire amount, and all parties together are also liable for the entire amount. The injured party can collect the full damages from any one of the liable parties, even if that party was only partially at fault. This doctrine is common in tort cases involving multiple defendants.
