One-satisfaction rule

Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-003551

A legal principle stating that a plaintiff is entitled to only one recovery for a single injury, even if multiple defendants are found liable or multiple legal theories support the claim. This rule prevents a plaintiff from receiving double compensation for the same harm. Any payment received from one liable party generally reduces the amount recoverable from others.
