One-person, one-vote rule

A constitutional principle in the United States requiring that electoral districts for legislative bodies have roughly equal populations. This rule upholds the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment by preventing the dilution of voting power in more populous districts. It applies to both federal and state legislative apportionment.
