Loving v. Virginia

A landmark 1967 U.S. Supreme Court decision that invalidated state laws prohibiting interracial marriage. The Court unanimously held that such anti-miscegenation statutes violated both the Equal Protection Clause and the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution. This ruling overturned the conviction of Mildred and Richard Loving and struck down similar laws in fifteen other states.
