Joint enterprise

A legal concept where two or more individuals engage in a common undertaking with a shared purpose, making each participant potentially liable for the actions of the others within the scope of that enterprise. This doctrine is often applied in tort law to establish vicarious liability. It requires a common purpose, a community of interest, and an equal right to control the enterprise.
