Parental neglect

The failure of a parent or guardian to provide a child with adequate care, supervision, food, clothing, shelter, medical attention, or education, resulting in harm or a risk of harm to the child. This can be an act of omission rather than commission. It is a form of child abuse that can lead to state intervention, including removal of the child from the home.
