Postjudgment interest

Interest that accrues on a monetary judgment from the date the judgment is entered until it is fully paid. This interest compensates the successful party for the delay in receiving the awarded funds. The rate of postjudgment interest is typically set by statute, either at a fixed rate or tied to a benchmark like the prime rate.
