Prima facie

Latin for "at first sight" or "on its face," referring to evidence that is sufficient to establish a fact or raise a presumption unless disproved or rebutted. A prima facie case presents enough evidence to allow a jury to find for the plaintiff if no other evidence is presented. This standard is often met at the pleading stage of a lawsuit.
