Batson objection

A formal protest made in court during jury selection, asserting that a party has exercised a peremptory strike against a potential juror on discriminatory grounds, typically race or gender. The objecting party must first establish a prima facie case of discrimination. The burden then shifts to the striking party to provide a neutral explanation.
