Speaking objection

Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-004602

An objection made in court that includes argumentative statements, legal commentary, or additional information beyond simply stating the legal ground for the objection. Such objections are generally improper because they can coach the witness, influence the jury, or waste court time. A proper objection should be concise, stating only the legal basis, such as 'hearsay' or 'leading question'.
