Badgering the witness

A tactic used during cross-examination where an attorney harasses, intimidates, or repeatedly questions a witness in an aggressive or argumentative manner. This conduct is considered improper and aims to confuse or provoke the witness rather than elicit factual testimony. Judges will sustain an objection to badgering, requiring the attorney to rephrase or cease the line of questioning.
