Prima facie case

A legal claim that, if proven by the plaintiff, is sufficient to establish a fact or a cause of action unless rebutted by the defendant. It presents enough evidence to allow a jury to find for the plaintiff if no other evidence is presented. For example, a prima facie case of negligence requires proof of duty, breach, causation, and damages.
