Safe passage

A guarantee of protection granted by a sovereign power, permitting an individual to travel through a designated territory without fear of arrest, harm, or legal process. It is extended to diplomats, witnesses providing testimony, or individuals involved in negotiations during a conflict. The terms of safe passage are specified in a formal document, such as a letter of transit or a diplomatic note.
