Specially designed instruction, provided at no cost to parents, to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability. This legal entitlement is governed by federal and state laws, most notably the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Under IDEA, public schools must develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each eligible student to outline the specific services and support they will receive.
