Speculative damages

Damages that are uncertain, conjectural, or not directly traceable to the defendant's wrongful act. Courts generally do not award these damages because they are based on mere possibility or surmise rather than on established facts. To be recoverable, damages must be proven with reasonable certainty and not be remote or hypothetical.
