Supplemental needs trust

A specialized trust designed to hold assets for the benefit of a person with a disability without jeopardizing their eligibility for means-tested government benefits, such as Medicaid or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The trust funds are used to pay for expenses that supplement, rather than replace, government assistance, such as personal care, education, or entertainment.
