Veracity

The truthfulness or accuracy of a statement, or the personal characteristic of being habitually truthful. In legal proceedings, the veracity of a witness is a central issue for the trier of fact (the judge or jury) to determine when weighing the credibility of testimony. A witness's character for veracity can be challenged or supported by evidence, such as prior convictions for crimes involving dishonesty or a reputation for truthfulness in the community.
