Zone of interests

A legal doctrine used to determine whether a plaintiff has standing to sue under a particular statute. It requires that the interest the plaintiff seeks to protect or vindicate falls within the range of interests Congress intended to protect or regulate when enacting the statute. This concept is a key component of administrative law.
