Foreign trade zone (FTZ)

A designated area within a country, located in or near a customs port of entry, that is considered outside the customs territory for duty and tax purposes. Merchandise may be brought into a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) for storage, manufacturing, assembly, or processing without being subject to immediate customs duties.
