Activated complex theory

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003271

A theoretical framework that describes the rates of chemical reactions by considering a transition state, or activated complex, between reactants and products. This complex represents the highest energy point along the reaction pathway. The theory calculates the reaction rate based on the concentration of the activated complex and the rate at which it decomposes into products, often applied to atmospheric chemical kinetics.
