A sun-facing slope in mountainous regions, particularly in the Alps, that receives a greater amount of direct solar radiation compared to shaded slopes. This increased insolation results in warmer temperatures, less snow cover, and different vegetation patterns. It contrasts with the 'ubac,' which is the shaded, cooler slope.
