Afghanets

A strong, hot, and dust-laden southerly or southwesterly wind that occurs in the plains of Central Asia, particularly in the upper reaches of the Amu Darya river. This wind is a type of foehn wind, warming and drying as it descends from the Hindu Kush mountains. The afghanets can cause sudden temperature increases and is known for carrying large amounts of sand and dust, severely reducing visibility and impacting agriculture.
