Analog method
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003491
A forecasting technique that involves identifying past weather situations that are similar to the current situation and then using the subsequent evolution of those past events as a prediction for the future. This method relies on the assumption that similar initial conditions will lead to similar atmospheric developments. It is often applied to predict phenomena like precipitation or temperature anomalies.
