Annual cycle

The recurring pattern of meteorological or climatological variables that completes a full oscillation over a 12-month period. This cycle is driven primarily by the Earth's orbit around the sun and its axial tilt, leading to seasonal changes in solar radiation. Examples include the annual variations in temperature, precipitation, and sea ice extent.
