Semiannual oscillation

A periodic variation in atmospheric parameters, such as wind or pressure, that exhibits a primary cycle of approximately six months. This oscillation is particularly noticeable in the tropical stratosphere, where it manifests as alternating easterly and westerly wind regimes. It is distinct from the annual cycle, which is driven by the Earth's orbital mechanics.
