Quasi-biennial oscillation

A periodic oscillation of the zonal wind in the tropical stratosphere, characterized by alternating easterly and westerly wind regimes that propagate downward. The period of this oscillation is approximately 26 to 30 months. It influences global weather patterns and the transport of trace gases in the atmosphere.
