Quasi-nondivergent
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008250
Describing atmospheric flow where the horizontal divergence is small but not identically zero, allowing for slow vertical motion. This approximation simplifies the governing equations of atmospheric dynamics by filtering out fast-moving sound and gravity waves. It is often applied to large-scale, synoptic weather systems where vertical motion is primarily driven by horizontal variations in temperature and moisture.
