Semigeostrophic equations
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008788
A set of simplified equations of motion used in atmospheric dynamics that retain some ageostrophic effects while filtering out fast-moving waves like sound and gravity waves. These equations are derived by scaling the primitive equations and are particularly useful for studying mesoscale atmospheric phenomena. They provide a balance between complexity and computational efficiency.
