Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007930
A span of time in which the groundwater level climbs to a high and then declines again, one complete oscillation of the water table. Rises follow recharge from rainfall or snowmelt, and falls follow drainage to streams and withdrawal by wells and plants. In seasonal climates the dominant cycle follows the annual wet and dry seasons.
