Anticyclogenesis
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-000150
The atmospheric process of development or intensification of an anticyclone, which is a large-scale circulation of winds around a central region of high atmospheric pressure. This process involves mechanisms that increase the pressure at the center of the system, such as convergence of air aloft and subsequent sinking and warming of air in the troposphere. Anticyclogenesis is the opposite of anticyclolysis, the weakening or dissipation of a high-pressure system.
The formation or intensification of an anticyclone or high pressure center.
