Apogean winds

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003581

Hypothetical winds in the upper atmosphere that would be driven by pressure gradients resulting from the tidal forces of the Moon at its apogee. At this point in its orbit, the Moon is farthest from Earth, and its gravitational pull is at its minimum. The concept is part of the broader theory of lunar atmospheric tides, which are generally very weak compared to other atmospheric drivers.
