Arcticization
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003619
A process involving the cooling of a region or the expansion of arctic-like conditions into previously warmer areas. This can manifest as an increase in sea ice extent, a decrease in average temperatures, or the spread of permafrost. It is often associated with changes in atmospheric and oceanic circulation patterns that bring colder air masses or ocean currents to lower latitudes.
