Frontolysis
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005816
The atmospheric process involving the weakening or dissipation of an atmospheric front, characterized by a decrease in the horizontal temperature gradient. This occurs when atmospheric flow patterns, such as divergence or subsidence, cause air masses to spread apart or mix. It leads to the blurring or disappearance of distinct frontal boundaries.
