Expansion wave

A type of wave in a fluid where the pressure and density decrease as the wave propagates, leading to an expansion of the fluid. In meteorology, these waves can occur in the atmosphere, often associated with changes in air pressure and density. They are distinct from shock waves, which involve compression.
