Pseudoadiabatic expansion
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008191
An idealized thermodynamic process where a parcel of saturated air expands and cools, with all condensed water immediately removed from the parcel as precipitation. The latent heat released during condensation warms the parcel, but this heat is effectively lost to the environment with the precipitation. This process is a simplification used in atmospheric thermodynamics to model cloud development.
