Snow stage
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008991
The phase of a river or stream's annual flow regime characterized by the accumulation of snow in its watershed, leading to low streamflow. During this period, precipitation falls primarily as snow, which is stored on the ground rather than immediately contributing to runoff. This stage typically precedes the spring melt and subsequent high flow periods.
