Argon
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003624
An inert, noble gas that is the third most abundant component of Earth's atmosphere, after nitrogen and oxygen. It constitutes approximately 0.934% of the air by volume and is chemically non-reactive under most atmospheric conditions. Because of its stability and known concentration, argon is used as a tracer gas in atmospheric studies and as a standard for calibrating mass spectrometers and other analytical instruments.
