Dalton's law
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004849
A principle stating that the total pressure exerted by a mixture of non-reacting gases equals the sum of the partial pressures of each individual gas within that mixture. This law applies to atmospheric gases, where the total atmospheric pressure is the sum of the partial pressures of nitrogen, oxygen, argon, and other trace gases. It is a foundational concept in understanding gas behavior in meteorology.
