Binary cyclones
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003912
A pair of tropical cyclones or extratropical cyclones that are close enough to each other to interact, often exhibiting a mutual rotation around a common center, a phenomenon known as the Fujiwhara effect. The interaction can lead to one cyclone absorbing the other, or both merging into a single, larger system. This interaction is a complex dynamic process that can significantly alter the tracks and intensities of the individual cyclones.
