Broad-crested weir
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004045
A hydraulic structure used to measure the flow rate of water in open channels, characterized by a crest that is relatively broad in the direction of flow. Water flows over the crest, and the depth of the water upstream of the weir is used to calculate the discharge. These weirs are often constructed from concrete or masonry and provide a stable control for flow measurement.
