Burga

A storm of strong wind with sleet or driven snow in Alaska, also spelled boorga, from the Russian word for a tundra blizzard. It is the Alaskan counterpart of the Siberian purga. It differs from the buran, which is a steppe storm of Siberia and Central Asia, blowing with snow in winter and with dust in spring and summer.
