Cake ice

A form of sea ice characterized by flat, circular pieces of ice, typically ranging from 2 to 20 meters in diameter, with raised rims. These rims are formed by the pieces bumping against each other in a moderate swell. It represents an intermediate stage in the formation of larger ice floes from smaller ice fragments.
