Calved ice

Any piece of ice that has broken off from a larger ice body, such as a glacier, ice shelf, or iceberg. This process, known as calving, is a primary form of ablation for tidewater glaciers and ice sheets. The resulting pieces range in size from small fragments called brash ice to massive icebergs hundreds of square kilometers in area.
