Candela

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004126

The base unit of luminous intensity in the International System of Units (SI). It quantifies the power emitted by a light source in a particular direction, weighted by the luminosity function, which models the human eye's sensitivity to light. One candela is defined by taking the fixed numerical value of the luminous efficacy of monochromatic radiation of frequency 540 x 10^12 hertz to be 683 lumens per watt.
