Cancellation ratio

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004125

A measure of a Doppler weather radar's ability to suppress unwanted power returns from stationary targets, known as ground clutter, while retaining signals from moving targets like precipitation. It is expressed in decibels (dB) and represents the ratio of the clutter signal power before and after filtering. A higher cancellation ratio indicates better performance in distinguishing meteorological echoes from non-meteorological ones.
