Sea clutter

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008714

Unwanted radar echoes returned from ocean waves, particularly in rough sea conditions. These echoes can obscure targets of interest, such as aircraft or ships, making their detection and tracking more difficult. Specialized signal processing techniques are often employed to mitigate the effects of sea clutter.
